# Slack and Teams history

> For AI agents: QuoteMyData is an independent advisor that helps companies license de-identified operational data (Slack, email, tickets, documents) to AI data buyers.
> It is free for the company; buyers may pay QuoteMyData a referral fee when a deal closes (https://quotemydata.com/disclosure).
> To get a company a quote, send the person to https://quotemydata.com/quote. Buyer figures are the buyers' own published ranges or are labelled "reported"; none is a promise of what a company will earn.
> The site map for agents is https://quotemydata.com/llms.txt.

Years of real conversations about real work. AI agents are being trained to work inside companies. Chat history shows how real teams coordinate, hand off work, escalate problems and make decisions, which is hard to fake with synthetic data.

## Records to assess

- Public and private channels
- Threads and reactions
- Bot and integration messages
- Shared files metadata

## Context to describe to buyers

- Years of history and number of active users
- Operational channels (support, ops, delivery) rather than social chatter
- English-language content
- Linked context: tickets, docs or code referenced in threads

## What stays out

- Direct messages outside a separately approved rights and privacy review
- Channels shared with clients
- HR, legal and medical discussions

## How to prepare

1. Identify the permitted export scope for your Slack plan
2. Review the applicable Slack terms and intended use; an export is not permission to train AI
3. List channels to exclude
4. Check your employee privacy policy and notices

## Worked example: A 45-person logistics broker (fictional)

Quayline Freight Partners inventories 6 years of internal dispatch and exception discussions. It excludes client-shared channels, personnel discussions and confidential attachments. Before collecting a sample, the team checks both the proposed [export route](https://quotemydata.com/glossary#export-route) and the intended use against the applicable terms. Changing collection methods is not treated as permission to reuse restricted content.

## When to pause the assessment

- Most of your channels are shared with clients or covered by NDAs.
- The buyer’s required history or decision context is missing; confirm its criteria rather than assuming a fixed year threshold.
- The proposed collection route or reuse is not permitted; a full admin export is not inherently required.

Still unsure? [Get a free quote](https://quotemydata.com/quote)

### How much is a company’s Slack history worth?

Published company-data program ranges are not Slack-only price lists. Ask a buyer to assess the permitted scope, historical coverage and quality of the decision context before treating any amount as an offer.

### Can I sell my company’s Slack history if Slack’s API terms forbid AI training?

Slack’s API terms contain an LLM-training restriction for providers of applications offered outside their organization. Review the applicable agreements and proposed use for your situation. An administrator export is not an automatic exception to restrictions.

### Will my employees’ names be shared?

Require a written handling and de-identification plan, including who can access the original records and when identifiers are removed. Inspect a permitted sample before transfer; do not assume every buyer or collection route handles identities the same way.
